Information about Natural Fluorite Rings

Fluorite rings, commonly referred to as fluor spar is actually a colorful stones from of Calcium Fluoride. The soft & transparent look of the fluorite stones makes them popular lapidary material for use in vases, dishes, spheres, ornamental objects & carvings etc. The hardness of fluorite is usually found to be only 4 on mohs' scale, which indicates that it is very delicate in nature & can easily get damaged with slight pressure. That’s why fluorite has very limited use as stones in rings as it is not always possible to maintain an unblemished polish with normal jewelry use.



Apart from purple, fluorite also comes in a variety of ethereal colors including pink, blue, green & yellow. The rainbow fluorites in particular attract buyers as they come banded beautifully in green, purple & while in a single stone. Fluorite is a vitreous stone mostly worn by astrological signs of Pisces & Capricorn. It appears in characteristic hexoctalhedrons, tetrahexahedrons & cubic crystals form. If desired, one can also find it in granular or columnar form.



Its specific gravity is 3.18 & index of refraction varies from 1.433 to 1.435. Most often referred to as “Genius Stone”, it is believed good to keep fluorite in every room of the home.
