Unakite, a gemstone for success

Unakite is granite and is formed from the mixture of pink feldspar, quartz and green epidote. It is very compact and hard gemstone which makes it a stone suitable for jewellery.

The gemstone was named after the Unaka Mountains located in the south-eastern part of U.S.A. The gemstone was first discovered near these mountains hence the name. The availability of the gemstone is not just America rather it is now largely mined in Brazil, China and South Africa.

The stone is an olive green colored opaque structure and is also available in shades of green. The specific gravity of the gemstone is 2.6-2.7. The hardness is 6-7 on Mohs scale and is perfect for any jewellery design.

The hardness of the gemstone gives it an edge over other stones making it a popular gemstone. The gemstone is available in the best quality and it is used in lapidary works like eggs, shares and carvings.
