Serpentine, a jewelry stone with a distinctive appeal

Serpentine stone is considered to be a very powerful semi-precious stone which has the power of healing. Green is the primary color this semi-precious stone possess. One can also find patches of other colors too like black, yellow and white.

The stone possesses a hardness of 2- 2.5 on the Moh’s scale. The name has been derived from snakes hence the name.

This stone is found in many countries namely China, New Zealand, England, Italy, USA and South Africa.

There are many minerals responsible for the formation of these stones. The major color that this stone is well known for is green but one choose from various other colors too like brown, gray, golden yellow, olive green, mauve and black.
