Moldavite, a beautiful cosmic gemstone
Moldavite gemstone is translucent silica meteoric glass which is green in color. It was created when a meteorite with cosmic velocity struck the earth and got vaporized. The whole process took place in Norlingen, Germany creating the Reis Crater. A very small percentage of the vapor went to ionosphere. This silica vapor when reached cold outer space got condensed and solidified then fell back to the surface of the earth. This fell to nearby the Moldau river valley situated in Prague, Czechoslovakia. The name of the gemstone has been derived from this the Moldau river valley. The gemstone is one of the rarest varieties. The meteorite shower was responsible for this gemstone which gave it a bottle-green crystal color.
