Kynite, gemstone with a dazzling blue color

Kyanite a stunning blue colored gemstone which has a very vibrant blue color makes it look special. These gems are also found in gray and white color but are very rare to find. Uniformity in color is rare to find.

The name comes originally from the name of the mineral cyanite. It has been derived from a Greek word “kyanos” which means “blue”. It has aluminum silicate has the major chemical composition.

It does resemble blue sapphire but it is just the resemblance that is common between two of them, everything else differs. The hardness of this gemstone is along the long axis and across it. On Mohs scale it has hardness around 4.5 along the long axis and 6.5 across the long axis.

The gemstone is found in transparent and translucent crystals. The gemstone has a perfect cleavage length wise and good in second direction. It is commonly found in India, Brazil, USA, Russia, Burma, Australia, Kenya and Switzerland. JGjewellers
