What is Iolite

Iolite is the gem variety of a mineral called Cordierite. Iolite has a violet blue colour and is unique. Although Iolite can be known as "Water Sapphire" or "Indian Sapphire", it is not. It is also commonly mistaken for Tanzanite.

Iolite can have violet blue, yellow grey and light blue colours through it. It is not extremely rare but it is quite a fashionable stone.
