Garnet Hessonite is darkish brown/ orange variety of Grossular. Gemstone quality Garnet Hessonite can be found in Sri Lanka, Brazil and California

Garnet Hessonite is often called "Cinnamon Stone" because of it's similarity in colour to cinnamon.

Hessonite comes from the Greek word "Hesson" meaning "inferior". It is relating its lower hardness and density than most other Garnet varieties.
