The quartz crystals of the stone are coarse and display the crystal structure. Chalcedony is a cryptocrystalline variety of Quartz and Moganite Chalcedony can be found in a variety of colours. If the colour looks unnatural then is probably is - It is Dyed by having the stone submersed in Dye over long periods of time.
