Chiastolite, a cross-marked gemstone with immense power

Chiastolite is Andalusite crystals that contain a cross shaped inclusion caused by carbon usually from graphite. It is otherwise known as a “Cross Stone” because of the cross like naturally developed patterns.

The name has been derived from a Greek word “chiastos” which means “cross marked”. The stone is rich in carbon impurities. It was first discovered in Spain and it is found in red, brown, orange and green color.

The stone has a hardness rating of 7.5 on Mohs scale suitable for designing various kinds of jewellery. The gemstone is found in many countries namely Brazil, Sri Lanka, France, Russia, Chile, Algeria, Australia, France, Canada and America.

The structure of the gemstone is orthorhombic which makes it all the more attractive. Apart from being a cool looking jewellery stone it is also used as ethnic jewellery.

The bead necklaces and jewellery are quite popular because of its unique designs and styles. The gemstone leaves an impression on the on-looker about the wearer being creative and practical.
