What is Carnelian
Carnelian [also sometimes referred to as cornelian] is found primarily in India, as well as various sites in South America.
Interesting facts:
There are two main varieties: chalcedony which is uniformly coloured, and agate which is characterized by covered bands or zones of different colour. The various shades of red on the Carnelian are due to the presence of iron oxide. Carnelian belongs to the quartz family of gems and is also known by other trade names like, red chalcedony and red agate.
In eastern cultures, carnelian was favoured for strength.
